About this data

As the operator of the CyberTipline and the Child Victim Identification Program (CVIP), NCMEC has an important and growing repository of data associated with reports of suspected online child sexual exploitation. Some of that data is accessible here for stakeholders to review. Due to NCMEC's operational practices, the figures available here may be subject to revision over time. All non-zero figures have been rounded and should be considered approximate.

The number or volume of CyberTipline reports, reported files, or any other figure shared here should be understood to represent only a level of reporting for the specified period.
These figures are not:
  • a prevalence measurement for certain types of crime;
  • a proxy for the number of children abused or exploited;
  • the number of CSAM images or videos found to exist online;
  • the number of cases opened or investigated by law enforcement agencies;
  • a comprehensive indicator of how much (or how little) online child sexual exploitation is occurring on a particular platform or in a particular jurisdiction.
Please consider this information and the descriptions associated with each data point (indicated by ⓘ) as you interpret and use this data.
